How financing with RENU works

1

We design your system and quote it with RENU

Your Seed Solar quote shows the system price alongside estimated RENU loan payments, so you can compare a monthly loan payment directly against your current electric bill.

2

You apply through a participating Colorado credit union

The program partners with Colorado-based, not-for-profit credit unions. We'll point you to the current participating lenders and rate sheets — approvals generally come back within a few business days.

3

We install; the loan funds the project

Once you're approved and sign the loan documents, we install your system just like any other project. No money down is required from you at signing under the program's standard structure.

4

You own the system — credits and savings are yours

Because it's your system, tax credits and utility incentives you qualify for go to you. You can also pay the loan off early at any time with no prepayment penalty.

RENU loan questions, answered

What is the Colorado RENU loan?

RENU (Residential Energy Upgrade) is a statewide loan program sponsored by the Colorado Clean Energy Fund in partnership with Colorado-based credit unions. It offers low-cost, long-term financing for home energy upgrades — including solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps, and EV charging.

Does the RENU loan put a lien on my house?

No. RENU loans are secured by a UCC-1 filing on the installed equipment only — there's no lien placed on your property, unlike a home equity loan or HELOC.

Do I still get the federal solar tax credit with a RENU loan?

Yes. Because you own the system, tax credits and incentives you qualify for belong to you, not a leasing company. Confirm your eligibility with your tax advisor.

Who is eligible?

Owners of existing single-family homes in Colorado — including primary, secondary, and income properties, plus townhomes and condos without shared heating or cooling systems. Approval and rates depend on the lender's credit review.

How do I apply?

You apply through a participating Colorado credit union — Seed Solar works with the program as an installer, and we'll point you to the current lenders and rate sheets when we prepare your quote. Approvals generally come back within a few business days.

What else can RENU finance besides solar?

Battery storage, heat pumps and other space heating and cooling, water heating, EV charging, insulation and air sealing, and energy-efficient windows and doors — so a panel upgrade or battery can go on the same loan as your solar.

Loan terms, rates, and eligibility are set by the RENU program and its participating lenders — not by Seed Solar — and change over time. Always confirm current terms on the official Colorado RENU program page. When you get a quote from us, we verify what's current.

We'll size your system, price it honestly, and show what a RENU loan payment would look like — for many homeowners it lands near what they already pay the utility.
